I made Hot Swap in my first solo game jam over the course of 3 days. It was awesome to have a singular, personal vision, and I was able to hone in on the core mechanic. It did make me really appreciate having input and work from other team members, as I wasn't able to spend time on graphics and supporting systems.

I wanted to make an infinite-scaling roguelike akin to Vampire Survivors, but with a unique way for the player to get stronger that limits them from getting way ahead of the enemies. The player only gets stronger by taking over a stronger enemy, which encourages them to always be on the lookout for a new target to take over, especially the special enemies with boosted stats like fire rate or move speed. New enemies are constantly getting stronger, so if the player gets too comfortable with their current power level, they'll quickly be left behind.
